ANTIQUE OCTANT. No.14

A mid 19th century navigators Octant. Unsigned brass 'Tulip' shaped frame design, with applied trade label inside box for James Hogg, Leith.

The silver scale is engraved from -5 degrees to 135 degrees and reading to 108 degrees. The index arm has swinging scale magnifier, the silver vernier scale reads from 0 to 10 seconds of arc.

Complete with two sighting telescopes and mirror adjusting pin, contained within its original fitted mahogany box.

Height: 9.5 inches / 24 cm, Radius: 7.5 inches / 19cm.
