A very rare mid 19th century lifeboat binnacle by DENT.
A compact copper compass binnacle containing the original compass bowl which is mounted on gimbals, the outer bezel engraved DENT's Patent Liquid Compass No 1602. 61 Strand, London.
Original compass card which has become slightly discoloured over its 160+ years of age.
Hinged night time illumination lantern to one side ( original oil burner missing )
Swing carry handle to the top.
