Antique Sextant made by P. Violin, Nantes.

A fine late 19th / early 20th century navigators Sextant, brass frame with ladder frame design. Engraved on the arc P. Violin, 41 & 43 Quai de la Fosse, Nantes. No.233.

The silver scale is engraved from -5  degrees to 165 degrees and can measure angles up to 136 degrees, it is divided into 10 minute increments. The index arm has swinging scale magnifier, the silver Vernier scale reads from 0 to 10 seconds of arc.

 7.5 inch radius.

This antique Sextant is contained within its original hardwood box. It comes with three telescopes, two eye piece sun filters and mirror adjusting tools.
